The juice fast has begun. Day 1 success.

Ok, so, impressions:

1. This is hard.
2. All juice does not taste good :(
3. It gets better. (day 2 is considerably better than day 1)
4. I lost 6 pounds my first day!

So I’m lethargic and my muscles are sore. But today was better. Back to work tomorrow… That will be the real test.

JumpStart

Hi everyone. As you can imagine, I haven’t quite been living up to my reformation plans. It’s been who knows how long since I last posted but I’m back and the journey is about to begin… Again.

Tomorrow morning I begin my seven(7) day juice fast. Now let me be clear that although I do believe that there are many health benefits to juicing, I do not believe the hype or unfounded claims. This experiment’s primary function is to revitalize me, recommit me, and frankly, give me something clear and structured to adhere to.

I will post my new weight tomorrow and the reformation begins!

Fresh mangos for desert. Deliciouso!

Costco protein shakes

Have become a staple of my diet…

Sorry it’s been so long.

I’ll let you in on a secret, when I’m not active on here, I’m not nearly as active as I should be in real life.

What does this mean?

I need to get back on track. I’ve still been losing weight; but excruciatingly slowly. I’m falling into this groove of success then over-reward.

I don’t quite know how to get out of it, so I am taking things one day at a time. If I just focus on today and forget about what I will or won’t do tomorrow, hopefully I will gain back some consistency.

Keep me honest people! Thanks for listening.

New job starts today! (sorta)

I’m doing a quick visit to the new job for the day. The exciting news is I get to test my commute. The train this morning left at 5:55 and I’m interested to see how the .8mi walk goes. It’s not too far, but it should make a big difference being forced to do it everyday.

Yes, this is quite a bit farther than the old location, 30min to 2hrs(ouch). However, it presents an exciting opportunity to add to my great “reformation”.

Eat on purpose.

Good read.

My absolute favorite part about Jason’s deli. Soooo delicious.

20 Habits that Make You Fat

A lot of stuff I fall victim to in here. Good to know!

Weight loss v. Stress

So I have noticed lately that I tend to lose a lot more weight on the weekends than on weekdays.

A couple things have come to mind:

1. I seem to workout more on weekends

2. I am way less stressed on weekends.

I usually lose weight on friday though so I am throwing out #1 ;)

Thinking evolutionarily, millions of years ago, the only time humans felt stressed is when they were at risk. Usually physically. The biggest long-term physical risk back then was starvation! So it goes to assume that when you were stressed, the body automagically goes into preservation mode so that you don’t starve.

I don’t know if that is actually 100% true, but it makes a hell of a lot of sense to me.

Time to battle my weekday stress!

What kind of breakfast should I eat?

I’ve heard that breakfast “kickstarts your metabolism”. I’ve been eating (or drinking) breakfast, but I don’t know if I’m getting the most out of it.

Ideally, what percentage of my daily intake of calories should it be? Protein, fat, carbs?

Damn you 343.4!!!

3 days, no movement… It’s ok though. Soon, I will murder that number like a secret guild of assassins armed with poison-dipped darts.

My log for the day

So… food, check. Exercise today was lacking, but I have been rocking the last few days. Actually felt like I needed to take a break, I’m pretty sore. I feel like my fat content might be a bit high though.

Weight loss has definitely slowed, but still moving. I’ve been less strict and more focused on a healthy lifestyle. I don’t imagine I will be counting every calorie forever. (who knows though!)
The goal is still 100lbs by January 1st.

Any thoughts?
